Account

Your Alpik account: who you are signed in as. The name here is what your contacts see beside your position on their map, and what would be given to a rescue team.

GPS update interval

How often a position is taken and sent, from 1 to 10 minutes. The app warns you when a short interval will cost noticeable battery. Covered in full in Battery and tracking interval.

Language

myJikita is available in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese, and follows your phone's language by default.

Each language names itself in the picker — Français, Deutsch, Português — and those names are never translated, so somebody who has landed in a language they cannot read can always find their way out.

Changing the language changes the whole app immediately, including the text of its notifications.

Devices

The devices signed in to your account, and which one is currently active.

Only one device can be actively tracking at a time. Two phones both claiming to be you would produce two position streams with no way to tell which one is the person.

From here you can revoke a device. Revoking signs it out; the next time it is opened it says why, rather than silently doing nothing.

Revoke a phone you no longer have

If a phone is lost, sold or stolen, revoke it here. It signs that device out and stops it acting as you. Do it from a new phone as soon as you can.

Log out

Signing out erases the outings, tracks, contacts and messages held on this phone. Your downloaded map areas are kept — they are not personal data, and re-downloading them is slow and expensive.

Two guards, both deliberate:

  • You cannot sign out while an outing is running. Stop the outing first — otherwise you would leave your contacts watching a position that has stopped updating for a reason they cannot see.
  • If anything has not yet reached the server, the app tells you exactly what would be lost and asks you to confirm. If you see that warning, cancel, find some signal, let it sync, and then sign out.

Your data

The last section of the settings screen, below sign-out. Four rows, in the order you are most likely to need them:

  • Privacy policy — what is collected, why, and who it is shared with.
  • What do you know about me — asks us to build a copy of everything held about you, and hands you the file. See What do you know about me.
  • How to delete your account — opens the published notice, and deletes nothing.
  • Delete my account — the real thing. Irreversible, and it starts within seconds of you confirming.

Deleting your account

Signing out clears this phone. It does not delete your account or the data held on the server.

To delete everything: Settings → Your data → Delete my account. Read Delete your account and your data first — there is no grace period and nothing to cancel afterwards.
